Excellent introduction to Epidemiology

Having no previous experience or education in Epidemiology was not a problem with this wonderful resource. I was enrolled in Intro to Epidemiology via Distance Learning and was nervous about having limited access to tutors. The text breaks down complicated Epidemiology principles, terms and equations into a simple format understandable to anyone willing to take the time. Numerous real-life examples abound in the book and keep the reading interesting. I can't recommend it enough. Knowledgable and experienced authors make this a great introductory text.

Very helpful

I've referenced the Malachi portion of this volume (not Haggai), but based on that I'm very pleased. The work is scholarly, obviously well-researched, and yet within the main text things like transliteration and footnoting make it pretty accessible. (Hebrew and deeper arguments appear within the footnotes for those so inclined) As an added bonus, there are occasional "Excurses," where the authors include essays on topics related to the text at hand, yet at a depth that likely wouldn't be appropriate for inclusion in the normal commentary context. (For instance, there is one on how the matter of Tithing relates to New Testament times).

This is one of the more helpful commentaries I've consulted on Malachi, and I certainly recommend it.

Excellent with some defects

My daughter is 4. These books exist in the land of amazing. However, the "Frozen" book is not as good as the "Avengers" book. The printing is not well contemplated. The words are not as legible as they should be. The print colors are hard to read, and the font used has some of the letters incomplete so for a new reader she does not necessarily recognize the characters. She loves the book because of the interactive aspects. Overall it is great.

About the Author
Jeffrey Lindsey, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in Emergency Health Services at George Washington University. He retired from the fire service as the fire chief for Estero Fire Rescue, Estero, Florida. A nationally recognized figure in the emergency services industry, he also serves as the education coordinator for 24-7 EMS.

He is an experienced leader, educator, lecturer, author (including REA's EMT-Paramedic Flashcards), and consultant in emergency services. Dr. Lindsey earned his doctorate and master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of South Florida. He holds a bachelor's degree in Fire and Safety Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and an associate in paramedicine from Harrisburg Area Community College.

Dr. Lindsey has nearly three decades of diverse experience in the emergency services industry.

Getting Ready for the EMT Exam

Serving the public as an Emergency Medical Technician is a rewarding career for anyone who wants to enter the world of first responders. EMTs are on call 24 hours a day, every day—when disaster strikes, in life-threatening medical emergencies, and in other crisis situations. When EMTs answer a call for help, they must be prepared for anything and know how to act quickly and safely when someone’s life is in their hands.

EMTs have a great responsibility to the public and must meet certain requirements before receiving EMT certification. Forty-six states require that candidates complete a training program and pass the appropriate National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam.

If you are currently enrolled in an EMT-Basic/EMT certification program and are getting ready to take the exam, our EMT Flashcard Book will help you prepare.

About Your EMT Exam
Your EMT certification requires that you take the EMT cognitive test and psychomotor test. Both portions of the exam must be passed in order to receive certification. The cognitive test is a multiple-choice test taken at a Pearson VUE testing center. The psychomotor test is a practical, or “hands-on,” examination. Your state EMS office or course instructor can give you detailed information about the specific requirements for that part of the exam.

The EMT exam is a computer-adaptive test, or CAT, that delivers questions one at a time, and the questions are not randomly chosen but instead determined by your performance on the previous question. The software that drives the test continually adjusts to your ability level. The ability estimate gets more and more precise as the exam progresses. The exam ends when there is a 95% certainty that your demonstrated competency is above or below the passing standard. Because of its adaptive nature, the exam will serve up between 70 and 120 multiple-choice items, and you will have two hours to complete the test. Each question will have four answer choices. You need to choose the best answer for the question posed. The topics covered on the exam include airway and breathing, cardiology, medical, obstetrics and pediatrics, and trauma.

I bought this to study for the NREMT. It has great questions and the way it explained the answers really helped me to remember WHY it was that answer, not just memorizing that it was answer A or B. I read it twice, reviewed the detailed answers, and passed the test the first time.

I did not read the description well enough. This is not a collection of flashcards. This is a book with flashcard-esque questions and answers. An inauspicious start, perhaps, or more likely just a reprimand to sloppy readers, but either way this still is not flashcards.

Great tips but outdated plans

This is a great book for anyone interested in learning how to make kites. The only downside to the book is that the stunt kite plans are very dated. Since this book was published in 1996, dual line stunt kites have progressed in aerodynamic design and materials. There are plans for kites on the internet that utilize these new sail shapes and framesets that (in my opinion) would allow a person to make a kite that would provide a more enjoyable flying experience.

I think this book is great for people who are interested in stunt kites. It is very detailed and has accurate pictures. This book has pretty good tips. It lists one liners and different gadgets that are perfect for the beach.
